My name is Katie, and I’ll be your guide as we venture through muddy wetlands and tall trees. This will be my ‘travel journal,’ where I’ll be recording my adventures down various paths. When I’m not exploring the swamp, I have worked as a freelance illustrator on a variety of different projects, an adjunct professor, and more. Within everything I do lies a thread of influence tied into the natural world that inspires me and drives me forward.
On our trek into the swamp, we’ll be exploring areas previously unexplored as well; I’m returning to grad school within the next few weeks to learn more about teaching and illustration! I’ll be recording my experiences and new sights here.
Before we begin our journey, let’s take a look at our map. These waters rise and fall with the seasons, so it’s hard to say exactly what our trail will look like. However, there are a few notable landmarks we’ll probably see;
My journey as a grad student returning to school, and my thesis research into swamps and wetlands of the Northeastern U.S.
Freelance projects, ranging from recaps of the process to early peeks at final work and discussions about working as a freelance illustrator.
News and updates related to illustration, and thoughts and explorations of life outside freelance.
sketchbook spreads and personal projects that I take on.
So grab your boots and your bag, we’re about to depart! Our current stops include my return to grad school, a houseplant book I’m currently at work on, and some varied client projects; but keep your eyes out for other sights as well.
